SkinCare Physicians’ original waiting room from 2000, Suite 302, is getting a complete makeover this month. The renovated space will have more open space and light for an enhanced patient experience. January is often the time for new beginnings. This month Dermatology World, an AAD publication, is launching a new column entitled “What’s hot”. It covers exciting developments across the dermatology specialty, including what’s new in cosmetic dermatology from our own Dr. Jeffrey Dover.
SkinCare Physicians’ Dr. Robin Travers has been working with the Melanoma Foundation of New England (MFNE) to develop an online version of the award-winning “Your Skin Is In” program to a nationwide audience. It launched yesterday! Educators, school administrators, and high school and college students across the country can now use this melanoma education program in their classrooms with a click of a mouse!
This elearning program encourages teens and young adults to learn more about melanoma, risky sun behaviors, and how to protect their skin. Working with online educators, the MFNE developed a script for several teaching videos, along with an online curriculum and assessment protocol.
Parts of the videos were filmed in SkinCare Physicians’ offices near Boston, and feature our own dermatologist, Dr. Robin Travers.

SkinCare Physicians welcomes Kathleen Brodt! Kathleen is a certified family nurse practitioner with nearly a decade of experience seeing adult and pediatric dermatology patients in the greater Boston area. Kathleen will significantly enhance our ability to continue to see patients in a timely fashion and we know our patients will enjoy her skilled and compassionate care. Dr. Brian Raphael is one of the three talented fellows at SkinCare Physicians. Born and raised in Syracuse New York, Brian moved to Philadelphia to attend The University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate and medical school studies. Afterwards, Brian completed his dermatology residency training at Emory University in Atlanta. He has now returned to the northeast and joined SkinCare Physicians’ team as our Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellow, specializing in Mohs and dermatologic surgery. When not practicing dermatology, Brian loves to follow college and professional sports, as well as travel with friends and family. Although from New York, he is not a fan of the Yankees!
Dr. Jeffrey Sobell, Director of the Psoriasis Treatment Center at SkinCare Physicians, was part of a select group of psoriasis specialists who reviewed new data presented at the European Academy of Dermatology meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark this October. “We have already made tremendous strides in treating psoriasis in the last decade, yet continued innovation is leading to even more effective therapies. It is astonishing to see that complete clearance of psoriasis will soon be attainable for a majority of patients suffering from moderate-severe,” he reports.
New device to reduce belly fat?
The research department at SkinCare Physicians will be studying a new device that may reduce belly
fat!
To be eligible you must be between the ages of 18-60, have a BMI below 29 and able to pinch at least 3cm of fat. You must be in good overall health, and not have had previous contouring procedures in the past 12 months.
Your schedule must be flexible as you will have 3 treatments scheduled 2 weeks apart. These visits may last over 2 hours. If you know of someone that may be interested in helping us study this device please have them contact the research department for further screening.
