Dr. Rohrer gave Grand Rounds at Dartmouth UniversityDr. Thomas Rohrer was recently invited to give Grand Rounds at Dartmouth University Medical Center. His lecture was entitled “Botox, Body Contouring, and Skin Tightening” and covered the latest innovations in both technology and techniques to optimize aesthetic results while maintaining a natural look.  Dr. Rohrer went into depth about precisely dosing botulinum toxins to get the best and most natural results. He also discussed the “happiness effect” that Botox has on patients. Studies have shown that botulinum toxins actually help significantly with depression. By relaxing the muscles that frown, a signal is sent to the brain tells it everything is OK and people actually feel better.  He finally shared the dramatic improvements in body shape that can be seen with the Coolsculpting procedure.

Dr. Jeffrey Dover is one of five skin care experts to share his tips on how to combat winter dryness and dullness, which main cause is indoor heating. “While the humidity outside may be as high as 60 or 70 percent, the inside humidity is in the 15 to 20 percent range,” says Dr. Dover to editors at Q, the editorial site of the Equinox fitness and rejuvenation clubs. The best way to protect your skin from dryness is through prevention. “Avoid hot baths and long hot showers, use a moisturizing cleanser rather than soap, which will help keep skin from drying out, and apply moisturizer while the skin is still damp after showering,” he advises. “Following this regimen is a good way to prevent the skin from drying out and also keep it from getting that dull look which increases as the winter progresses.” He also reveals his favorite moisturizing cleanser for the winter, which is Olay 2-in-1 Essential Oil Ribbons moisturizing body wash. He recommends for the face, Aveeno Clear Complexion, CeraVe PM and Cetaphil cream, and for the body, Cetaphil lotion and Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream. Cover-Town-Country-March-2015SkinCare Physicians’ Dr. Michael Kaminer who helped lead the clinical trial for Cellfina, a newly FDA-cleared device for treatment of cellulite, is extensively quoted in the article, The Ripple Effect, just published in the March issue of Town & Country Magazine. Dr. Kaminer explains that until now the solutions for cellulite, which affects most women, were notoriously ineffective. “Previous treatments targeted the fat under the skin, but we wanted to go after the underlying cause of cellulite,” he says. With Cellfina, a cutting-edge, minimally invasive procedure, he and other colleagues believe that they have found the holy grail of aesthetic treatments.

Dr. Dover’s Preceptee shares her experience at
SkinCare Physicians

SkinCare Physicians’ Dr. Jeffrey Dover recently served as Preceptor in the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery’s (ASDS) 2014 Preceptorship Program. His Preceptee, Dr. Sonya Abdulla, from Toronto, Ontario, shares her experience in the January-February issue of Currents, an ASDS publication.

I was very fortunate to participate in a very enriching ASDS Preceptorship in laser and aesthetic medicine with Jeffrey S. Dover, MD. I gained invaluable exposure to a large volume and variety of cases. I had the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge modalities in laser and aesthetic medicine and observe their application to daily practice. […] My time with Dr. Dover opened my eyes to the spectrum of procedural medicine and has further stimulated my interest to incorporate laser and aesthetic procedures into my future practice. The expert teaching and engaging case discussions were integral to my learning.”

Read the full article about Dr. Abdulla’s Preceptorship experience with Dr. Dover.

This exclusive Preceptorship program provides ASDS members and graduating residents with the opportunity to visit the practice of an established dermatologic surgeon and perfect skills in core areas of practice, as well as advancing skills in procedures and techniques not previously learned.

Bellafill-logoThe new FDA-approved acne scar treatment Bellafill is coming to SkinCare Physicians.
Bellafill is the most recent FDA-approved filler to reach the U.S. market, specifically for the treatment of acne scars.  It joins other excellent fillers already on the market such as Belotero, Juvederm, and Restylane as viable options for treating acne scars as well as wrinkles and other surface skin changes.  These products have proven to be extremely safe and effective, with results lasting on average 9-12 months or longer.  Acne scars in particular are a challenge to treat, and quality of life for patients improves significantly as their scars are diminished.  Adding Bellafill to our treatment portfolio will enhance our ability at SkinCare Physicians to treat virtually all patients who have acne scars.  And we can do it successfully and likely much more easily than one might think. • How do we describe the culture/environment in SkinCare Physicians’ office?
  • How do we encourage and cultivate good staff relations among SkinCare Physicians’ 14 dermatologist?
  • How many non-physicians/administrative staff members do we employ, and how do we ensure that the physicians and other staff are effectively communicating?
  • Do we have an incentive compensation bonus program and/or annual reviews of support staff?
  • What practice management training and education do we provide your administrative staff on a regular basis?
  • What kind of education and training do we provide our staff on the wide range of services and procedures we offer?
  • Beyond CME, what type of training, education, seminars, and conferences are physicians on staff encouraged to participate in and why?
