First there were facelifts, then Botox and other injectable treatments came along to help millions world-wide stop aging in its tracks. Last night, SkinCare Physicians’ Dr. Michael Kaminer discussed a new, exciting cold therapy in an interview on WCVB: ‘Frotox’ could be next beauty, pain treatment.
The device is made by a start up company in California called Myoscience. It has been released in Europe, and clinical trials in the United States are about to begin.
The technology uses a novel cold therapy to temporarily eliminate nerve signals to muscles, which then weakens the muscles and gives a smoother appearance. For now, it is only used for the forehead and the wrinkles between the eyebrows.
The treatment is at least two years away from FDA approval, and not available in United States. However, SkinCare Physicians may be doing clinical trials with the device in the near future. Keep checking our Facebook page for more information. Watch the interview.
