Sometimes the internet simply gets it wrong. There was a recent article posted to CNN Health that claimed “Too much Botox can age you”. Specifically, the article (with input from medical professionals) stated that “getting injections for a prolonged period of time” can lead to more rather than less aging.
Nothing can be farther from the truth! At SkinCare Physicians, our leading experts have been performing Botox and similar injections (Dysport, Daxxify) for nearly 30 years. After treating thousands of patients every 4-6 months (on average), we have NEVER seen an example of accelerated aging. Conversely, we have seen Botox injections prevent the progression of aging, while at the same time artfully enhancing appearance. We call this “Prejuvenation”, which is a wonderful term initially coined by our own Dr. Arndt and now used worldwide!
Importantly, at SkinCare Physicians we use Botox differently from other providers…we use lower doses at more modest concentrations. This less-is-more strategy, which we have used successfully for decades, enables our physicians to create subtle and natural outcomes. We eliminate the risk of looking frozen or over-done, which we see all-to-often in friends and celebrities. This unique SkinCare Physicians approach to Botox injections has been taught to doctors around the world, and has become the gold-standard for patients who are seeking subtle and natural improvement.
So please be careful with news stories and “Dr. Google”, and carefully interpret what might appear to be fact when it is actually fiction. Prolonged and repeated Botox injections do not lead to more aging; rather they can be used skillfully to prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and prejuvenate the face in a way that is both attractive and long lasting!
