Dr. Laurel M. Morton brings expertise in both medical and cosmetic dermatology to SkinCare Physicians. Her interests include the complete spectrum of general dermatologic conditions including acne, eczema and skin cancer, as well as wound care. She also practices dermatologic surgery and a full complement of cosmetic procedures including laser surgery, injectable soft tissue fillers and neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport).
Dr. Morton graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Physics from the University of Notre Dame’s Honor Program, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She subsequently attended the University of Michigan Medical School where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated with Distinction. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. and her dermatology residency at Boston University. In Boston, she served as chief resident in her final year and was awarded the Marie-France Demierre Award for Humanism in Medicine.
Following residency, she completed a dedicated one-year fellowship in Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology at SkinCare Physicians. During this time, she developed expertise in lasers for vascular and pigmented lesions such as birthmarks, rosacea, sun damage, tattoos and melasma. She also has a particular interest in the use of fractional lasers including the Fraxel and Ultra Pulse for both laser resurfacing and the treatment of acne scars, traumatic and surgical scars and wounds. She is well versed in the use of injectable soft tissue fillers and neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport) as well as radiofrequency treatments for skin tightening (Thermage, Pelleve) and non-surgical fat removal (CoolSculpting, Liposonix).
During her career, Dr. Morton has published multiple book chapters and articles on vascular lasers, skin tightening, fat removal, scarring, wound healing, melasma and contact dermatitis. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and has spoken nationally at meetings of these societies.
In addition to practicing dermatology, she enjoys spending time with her husband, children, family and friends.
