Drs. Michael Kaminer and Thomas Rohrer have been invited to become members of the Association of Surgical Faculty, and will be giving inauguration lectures at the upcoming annual meeting in March 2010.
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts (February 2010) – At SkinCare Physicians®, a skin care practice near Boston, Drs. Michael Kaminer and Thomas Rohrer have been invited to join the Association of Surgical Faculty. They join Drs. Jeffrey Dover and Kenneth Arndt, two other esteemed physicians at the practice, who are already longstanding members in the Association.
“We’re very excited to join our colleagues in this endeavor; it’s a great honor,” says Dr. Kaminer. “Both Dr. Rohrer and I have put in a great deal of effort and research over the years to help advance the field. That has definitely paid off for our own patients, but becoming members of the Association of Surgical Faculty gives us another opportunity to share knowledge with dermatologic surgeons all over the country.”
Only a select number of doctors each year are invited to join the Association and it is considered an important mark of a dermatologic surgeon’s knowledge and influence within the field.
“Membership gives us an opportunity to share our experience with a wide audience of skin care specialists where we can all learn from each other in a more open and candid forum,” Dr. Rohrer explains. “Dr. Kaminer and our colleagues at SkinCare Physicians believe that it’s not enough to be engaged in the latest research about dermatology or cosmetic surgery – you have to step up and take part in advancing the science.”
Dr. Kaminer and Dr. Rohrer have both published numerous studies and articles in leading dermatology journals, and they take an active role in educating new dermatologists by authoring textbooks on dermatology and cosmetic surgery topics. They also instruct new surgeons directly through residency and fellowship programs covering such advanced topics as Mohs micrographic surgery, laser skin care and cosmetic surgery.
“We are both involved in dermatologic and cosmetic surgery education – we’re passionate about working toward the best possible prevention and care, the safest practices, and the best possible results,” explains Dr. Rohrer. “At SkinCare Physicians, that means implementing new developments, not just reading up on them in the medical journals.”
Both surgeons will be presenting lectures at the upcoming annual meeting from March 5 to 9 in Miami Beach, where dermatologists from all over the country converge to share their research, educate each other on new techniques, and address current issues in patient care.
“Membership gives us tremendous opportunities to contribute to the dermatology community, and it’s also one more way for us to make sure our patients are benefiting from top-quality care,” explains Dr. Kaminer. “Whether the procedure is BOTOX® Cosmetic or something more intensive like laser skin resurfacing or liposuction in Boston, our patients can be sure that the treatments and techniques we’re using are highly current and effective.”
