SkinCare Physicians Received Full Accreditation for the New ASDS Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship Program

Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts (October 8, 2013) – SkinCare Physicians is one of the first dermatology practices in the country to be approved by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) for the first-ever accreditation program for Cosmetic Dermatologic and Laser Surgery Fellowship Training. The purpose of this new initiative is to accredit programs designed to meet standards of quality and to promote practices that provide fellows with the proper training and expertise to perform cosmetic dermatologic surgery procedures.

This recent initiative also provides the opportunity to recognize existing independent fellowship programs that previously had no mechanism for recognition. SkinCare Physicians has had such a well-known fellowship training program for over a decade and has trained more than thirty fellows, but prior to the ASDS initiative there was no mechanism for this to be made official or for fellows to have their training recognized as having taken place in an accredited program.

This is an historic milestone for SkinCare Physicians, which now has three fully accredited fellowship positions. “It is a wonderful honor to be the first ASDS approved fellowship program in the country and a real testament to what we have created here,” commented Dr. Kenneth Arndt, President of SkinCare Physicians.

Following the site visit at SkinCare Physicians, an ASDS Accreditation Program Surveyor commented: “I have always been impressed with the level of teaching and scholarship that all of Skincare Physicians’ practitioners produce. If possible, I am now even more impressed with the practice they have built, the care they provide their patients, and their commitment to teaching young physicians. They clearly have a great operation that takes excellent care of people carried forth in egalitarian spirit.”
